Stocking Stuffer Earrings - Chalcedony Sprouts

How cute are these? I don't know what I love more, the Chalcedony gems or the "sprout" ear wires. I'll be stuffing a couple of these into my own stocking for sure.

Stocking Stuffer Earrings!

Introducing my new "Stocking Stuffer Earrings!" collection! The Apatite gems in these sweet & romantic earrings are simply stunning. They're a wonderfully lush, deep & inky blue crowned with 24kt Gold Vermeil. I wanted to make these earrings playful and so I've attached them to braided 24kt Gold Vermeil rings. In the center of the rings, I've nestled crystal clear blue Apatites and strung them on super-cute "berry" ear wires.

Sapphire!

Since Sapphire is September's birthstone, I thought I'd root around for some quick facts. * Ancient civilizations believed that the world was set upon a giant Sapphire. * Princess Diana's engagement ring from Charles was set with a Sapphire gem. * Sapphires occur in many other shades besides the traditional blue including pink, yellow and green. I'm a big fan of the pink variety myself. Here's a Pink Sapphire & Garnet Lariat necklace I made earlier in the year.

Here's the latest sneak peek from my soon-to-be-released Fall/Winter 2009 Collection. I'm really excited about the collection & dying to get it out into the world. This one's called Cabernet & Roses because the Ruby & Garnet gems totally put me in the mood to sit in a rose garden & drink a lot of red wine.

New Necklace!

Here's a new necklace for this week!
I love just love the classic simplicity of this necklace! The main pendant is a large, AAA, heirloom-quality London Blue Topaz gem. It's crystal clear and just beautiful. Above it, I've hand-wrapped delicate, deep blue Apatite gemstones to create a shimmering ring. And to top it all off, I've also added a braided Sterling Silver Ring to allow the pendant to move freely on the chain.
Necklace measures 17 inches and the pendant adds another 2 3/4 inch.

Peridot!

Since Peridot is August's birthstone, I thought I'd root around for some quick facts about the "emerald of the evening." * Peridot is the one of the very few gemstones that occur in a single color. * The green color is caused by traces of iron. * 80% - 95% of all Peridot production comes from Arizona, USA. I'm a big fan of the gem myself. I just bought the gorgeous strand you see here at a Santa Monica, CA bead show. I wonder what I'll make...
